Horses listed at 20-1 are simply dismissed as unlikely to help the bettor in win, place or exacta wagering. They may prove okay as deep fillers. There are 33 such horses listed and chances are that either one or none of them will win today.
Experienced bettors will notice there are very few 7/2 and 9/2 horses, since these represent some of the worst money burners in racing. The 2nd and 3rd choices behind a legitimate favorite usually deserve odds of 5/1 at the very least.
The number just to the right of the bullet is the horse's program number. The next number represents fair odds.
Bettors may find good value in playing the best horse in an exacta key over all others listed at less than 10/1.
The pick-3 at Canterbury offers a low takeout, and might be played judiciously using the rank and odds below.
The quarter horse races are passed, as is the unpredictable 7th race.
