Churchill Downs, the undercard, Derby Day

The solid favorites are in bold. Beware all other chalk.

CD ONE
#1 Apropos but need 5/2
The #2, #3 and #4 have all won much tougher races, so it's hard to justify Apropos' morning line of 8/5. Yes that 10-length victory looks awesome, but remember it was against lesser horses who gave up early. That won't be the case here.
#3 wins at 5/2.

CD TWO
#1 River Rocks is listed at 3/1 and would be bet-worthy even at 5/2.
Toss that KEE clunker, which was on the wrong surface. Now you'll see that RR is only horse to have run tough above the level of maiden or cheap claimer.
This would be a worthwhile 1x1 double, and the beginning of a more adventurous pick-3.
#6 wins at 13/1.

CD THREE
#1 Old Time Hockey has been tagged as the early favorite, but doubts abound. Yup, he has the classiest victory, that G2 at Delmar. But he hasn't hit the board in his last three tries, and the big speed figure in the last one means he'll be overbet. This is a chaos race. This is the race to go deep.
#3 wins at 5/1

CD FIVE
#8 Code West, 3/2. Would be surprised to get these odds. If Code runs his race, it's no contest. No bet at 1/2.
#4 wins at 11/1

CD SIX Hard to tell which of the top two will be the crowd's darling. But neither is worth tiny odds.
#2 Havelock 3/1
#8 Icon Ike 4/1
#6 Chamberlain Bridge 7/1
#1 Southern Dude 7/1
#7 wins at 11/1

CD SEVEN Humana Distaff
Very chaotic. Minimum bet 6/1.  This race proves that it's not only big field races that are chaotic. Nearly every one of the eight in the gate has the talent to win.
Look for the crowd to make a mistake. Pick players should go deep.
#1 Jamaican Smoke 6/1
#2 Rumor 6/1
#3 Same Cross 6/1
#4 Emma's Encore 10/1
#6 Aubby K 6/1 win at 7/2
#7 Burban 8/1
#8 Byrana 10/1
#9 Holiday Soiree 10/1

CD EIGHT Distaff Turf
The dominant horse is #8 Marketing Mix, 2/1. But if she is pounded on the board, there are other options.
#2 Channel Lady, 7/1
#3 Daisy Devine 3/1
#5 Hungry Island 7/1
#6 wins at 7/2

CD NINE Churchill Downs Stakes
#9 Delaunay, 1/1 is obviously the best horse. Wins at 9/5
#4 Handsome Mike, 10/1, is an interesting longshot, and if he gets a lucky start, can wire a classy field.

CD TEN Woodford Turf
Scratch of #9 changes race scenario
#8 Wise Dan 5/2. He'd be an unwise bet at the 6/5 line. Wins at 3/5
Yes he's a most likely winner, but this is a turf race and there is:
#3 Optimizer, 6/1, not 20/1 as in the line.
#6 Jeranimo 6/1
#9 Point of Entry 5/2
It's not impossible that the two best horses will wear each other down.
