Gulfstream and selected stakes, Feb, 26

GULFSTREAM

GP Two: Claimer
Race type: Normal
#2 8/1
#3 6/1
#4 7/2
#8 6/1 (morning line 3/1)
#9 7/2

GP Three: Claimer
Race type: Chalky
Don't fight the chalk here.
#3: 1/2
#4: 2/1

GP Six: Claimer
Race type: Normal
Hold out for fair odds.
#1: 5/1
#2: 4/1 (morning line 3/1)
#6: 5/1
#7: 3/1

GP Seven; Allowance
Race type: Extreme chaos
You know it's a chaos race when the best horse is 7/1. This is one of the most competitve races of Gulfstream's season.  Eleven contenders have a reasonable chance.
#1: 11/1
#2 : 15/1
#3: 7/1
#4: 9/1
#5: 11/1 (morning line 7/2)
#7: 11/1
#8:  9/1
#9: 11/1
#10: 7/1
#11: 11/1
#12: 15/1

GP Eight: The Very One
Race type: Normal
Two dominant femmes here, and a few attractive longshots. All depends on the odds, though.
#1 Starformer 7/2 (darling of the morning line at 2/1)
#2 Seanchai 6/1
#4 Game Fair 8/1
#5 Closing Range 7/2
#8 Kadaya 6/1

GP Nine: Allowance
Race type: Normal
Capo Bastone will be the crowd choice. This colt has been taken over by Pletcher after a big move in the Breeder's Cup Juvenile. Certainly he's the most likely winner, but it's easy to imagine the crowd pounding him down to 4/5, opening the door for more imaginative bettors.
#2 Duke of the City 5/1
#4 Sky Commander 5/1
#5 Capo Bastone 3/1
#7 Finn's Quest 7/1

GP Ten: The MacDiarmida
Race type: Chaos
Ten in the gate, and eight of them contenders. Minimum playable odds are 6/1. The crowd may pound the better horses down to absurd odds and produce a chalky winner, but the best chance lies with the longshots. Over time, chaos races will deliver a brutal beating to chalk players.
This race is also likely to destroy a lot of pick-6 tickets.
#1 Twilight Eclipse 6/1
#2 Newsdad 7/1 (morning line favorite at 7/2)
#3 Lucky Chappy 7/1
#4 Teaks North 9/1
#5 Belo Acteon 14/1
#6 Nicki's Sandcastle 12/1
#8 Ioya Bigtime 6/1
#9 Amira's Prince 6/1

LAUREL

LRL Six: The John Campbell
Race type: Normal
Not buying the 6/5 line on #4 Service for Ten.  Yep, he's won 5 times in 8 starts. But... he's never run the distance and is not bred for it. Those last two wins were on off tracks. He's a hell of a speed horse, but he ain't anything like even money.
#1 3/1
#2 9/2
#3 9/2
#4 8/1 (morning line 6/5)

LRL Eight: The Barbara Fritchie
Race type: Chalky
A big purse and a grade does not guarantee a competitive field.  No way will the crowd send Nicole off at anywhere near even money. Maybe closer to 3/5 when the gates open.
#5 Nicole H. 1/1 (8/5 morning line)
#1 My Wandy's Girl 5/1

TAMPA BAY

TAM Nine: Tampa Bay Stakes
Race type: Chaos (33)
The contenders list is only 5 deep, but they're pretty close in talent. Winners in races like this tend to pay odds of about 7/1 on average.
#2 9/2
#4 7/1
#5 7/1
#8 7/1 (morning line 5/2)
#9 10/1

FAIR GROUNDS

Race 9 Sarah Lane's Oats
Race type: Normal
#8 Ashley B is 2-for-2. She doesn't have the best "figs" so the crowd may give us a break here.
#4 Mucho Man's Gold seems overrated, despite the morning line and Brisnet's top rating. He may win, he may not, but for sure he ain't worth skinny odds.
#1 6/1
#4 5/1
#3 6/1
#8 7/2
