Fair Grounds Nov. 24

Note: Horses rated (U) are best used underneath only in exactas, tris and supers, especially if they hit their target odds.

FG Two (normal)
#5 Strikin' Ike, 10-1 in the morning line, but first in our estimation. This horse has been placed in too-tough spots by an amateur trainer. But he finds a weak field this time.
  • 1-(B) 3/1
  • 3-(C) 4/1
  • 5-(A) 5/2
  • 6-(U) 9/1
  • 8-(D) 6/1
FG Three (chalky)
Can't see past these two.
  • 1-(B) 8/5
  • 7-(A) 6/5 @2.10
FG Four (longshot)
We wouldn't bet anyone under 5-1 in this contentious race. #5 Rayo Halo is listed at 3/1, we wouldn't take him at twice the price. We also believe #6 Pink Pony South is way too small a price at 7/2.
  • 1-(B) 6/1
  • 2-(A) 9/2
  • 5-(C) 7/1
  • 6-(D) 10/1
  • 7-(B) 6/1
  • 8-(D) 9/1
  • 9-(A) 9/2 @8.70
FG Five (chalky)
It isn't often turf races come up chalky. We believe there are only three horses with a reasonable chance, which suggests an exacta and tri, doesn't it?
  • 4 (B) 2/1
  • 5 (A) 3/2 @0.40
  • 7 (C) 3/1
FG Six (normal)
The set up here, with one strong horse and a whole bunch who might show up on their best day, suggests a wheel.
  • 2 (U) 9/1 @3.00
  • 3 (U) 9/1
  • 6 (A) 5/2
  • 7 (E) 6/1
  • 8 (E) 6/1
  • 10 (U) 9/1
  • 13 (U) 9/1
FG Seven (longshot)
The presence of three "A" horses is just one indicator of a longshot set-up. In races like this, the average winner pays 8-1, while in "normal" races, the average winner pays 5-1. Even if you bet all three "A" horses, you'd still have only a 50% chance of finding the winner.

  • 1 (D) 12/1
  • 2 (C) 9/1
  • 3 (B) 7/2 4.20
  • 4 (U) 15/1
  • 5 (A) 5/1
  • 6 (A) 5/1
  • 7 (A) 5/1
  • 8 (C) 9/1
  • 9 (U) 18/1

FG Nine The Pago Hop (longshot)
We like #8 Zapper Belle a lot better than the 6/1 line. #6 Drama Drama we consider a little underpriced at 3/1. In a contentious turf race with two "A" horses, longshots should always be considered. For pick players, taking the "A" horses here will give you a 40% chance. Include all the "ABC" horses and you're 80% covered.
  • 1 (C) 6/1
  • 2 (B) 5/1
  • 3 (C) 6/1
  • 5 (U) 14/1
  • 6 (A) 4/1
  • 7 (U) 15/1
  • 8 (A) 4/1 @4.30
FG Ten (chalky)
A weak maiden claimer, but maybe worth betting if the crowd doesn't see that #2 Crooked as Can Be is worth a short price. It's a huge field so they may overprice him. There are 14 in the gate and maybe three worth considering for the win spot.
  • 2 (A) 9/5 @0.70
  • 4 (D) 9/2
  • 5 (U) 7/1
  • 7 (U) 7/1
  • 8 (D) 9/2
