CANTERBURY AUGUST ONE

The pick-6 and pick-4 may be bettable today.
Pick6 =1x1x3x1x1x4 or $24.
Pick4= 3x1x1x4 or $6.

RACE ONE:
Exacta race.
Bisquick (B) won his last dirt route.
Watch Pat (B) 6-for-7 in the money at Canterbury.

RACE TWO:
Highly competitive longshot race. Let's see who the crowd neglects.
None of the first four would be a surprise.
Sneaky Irish Lass, speedy, with good trainer, jockey and form.
Cryptic Affair. Comes off a huge win, but 6:1 naturally.
Tahitian Queen. A champ at lower levels, but not a cinch here.
Two Bright. Mac and Bel and 2/2 against cheaper.
Nice Roundup. A follower, not a leader, but has a route win.
Camptown Lady. Chicago horse. Unimpressive jock, form and 0/3 at distance.
Northern Winn seems completely out of it.

RACE THREE:
Lydia's Reward (B) Mac first timer. He's 2-1 in maiden debuts.
Allegreto (B) Early speed last time, good jockey, improving form.

RACE FOUR:
Sir Swervealot (A) Pacestter, 5:2 in career. 7:5 at CBY.
Imarealguy (B) Trainer, jockey, form, it's all there.
Buzz The Tower. (C) Slow starter, has talent, needs nice trip.

RACE FIVE:
Tie Rod's 88 last time was typical of him on the turf. (B)
Section F, an improving 3-year-old, might be the best horse. (B)

RACE SIX:
None of these horses has ever raced this distance.
Chick Fight (A) has huge margins in her four victories and route breeding. Her jockey can really rate a horse. Keep in mind that she has beaten a bunch of nobodies. She will be bet down beyond all reason. And she has tired badly in the stretch of even some of her 6-furlong races.
Katie is Smart could win if Chick Fight feels punk or hates the distance or...
Five Nations has similar credentials.

Chick Fight, Katie, Khloee's Dream and All Hallows Eve will vie for the lead.
Khloee's Dream will drop out early.
The three speedies should lead coming around the turn.
Katie will drop back.
Chick Fight will start to separate from All Hallows.
Five Nations or Simply Flawless will move up for the place.

RACE SEVEN:
Perfect Bull (B) has best proven speed at distance. Runs late. Toss the Iowa venture and the grass experiment, and he's won his last that was just like this one. Has two wins at the distance, a credential no other can match.
Nomorewineforeddie has at least placed in all 6 of his races. He's in bullet form but there's absolutely nothing that says he can handle the distance.
Bizet is in great form but has been an awful fader in every one of his routes. His jock is good, but not a genius, at the long run. His lone triumph was in the Florida slop.
A Steel Trap has won an allowance sprint, never tried the distance or anything, actually, beyond 6 furlongs. He will fight for the pace, but then what?
Jack and Max won his last race, and at this distance. It was a slow affair, and he didn't be Secretariat or anything.
Dixie Buck won a maiden at the distance, then got killed by Jack and Max in his next race. With the luckiest start in the world, he could light up the board.

THE RACE
It looks to be exhausting early. Six of the nine will be busting for the lead.
Perfect Bull will hang back.
Jack and Max will quit early.
Leaving five horses going for the 2nd turn, with Perfect Bull stalking.
Nomorewineforeddie is the likely survivor of the pace battle.

RACE EIGHT:
A maiden filly puzzler. The answer is: 4 contenders.

K D La Brew. 2nd race. First race figs competitive. Watch out.
Race Judicata makes her third start, had early speed last time and faded.
Powerful Kitty Kat. Fig horse, shows flashes of good run, loses heart.
Whosallbeeinthere. Beat Powerful Kitty Kat once.

UNLIKELY...
Superior Courage improved until a mud race, and went off form.
Cienna Mist. New unproven trainer, and regressing through four races.
Ci Ci Fun. Never showed much of anything.
Sunday Queen. Only a factor once in 9 races.
HellNMay. Absolutely nothing in 12 starts.
Majestic Aisle. Showed nothing in only race two years ago. New novice trainer. First lasix.
