BELMONT:
1: The closer Dancing Tin Man figures as favorite. But the race is a 4-1 turf scramble.
*Big Stick won last.
*Life of Dancer just missed at 20-1 after trouble.
*Austin Laviva Baby won last.
*Star Player won last.
2: Minimum 2-1.
*Spanky Fishbein has won better.
*Frontier Sky look 3 back to see potential
over the fave Law Enforcement. Who's good, but loses 60% of the time.
3: Fearless Vision, off for more than a year? Nah.
*Indian Hawke, runs well enough to win this 30% of the time.
*City Diplomat ditto.
*Port Royal, trainer is 4-1 turf-to-dirt.
4: Mucho Macho may go odds-on. He looks like the classic winner. Won first maiden, placed first allowance. Great! But no horse is worth odds-on.
*Sixthirteen, improving every single race.
*Run With Me, sneaky at 10-1. JR hops on. 20% trainer angles all over the place. Toss the graded race and whaddaya see? Two nice races in three tries.
5: Westward Go. Well bred for turf. Getting it together. Missed by a length in bad trip.
6: Turf, 4-1 minimum.
*Iron Curtain, two nice ones.
*Ode to Revolution, powerful maiden win.
*Phobia who knows how this guy runs on fast track.
*System Restore, 20-1 much too high.
*Run Warrior Run. Never a bad race.
7: Weak field
*Quixotic Lassie but only if the crowd ignores at 2-1 or better.
*Credit at Tiffany's won last, layoff, could surprise at price.
8: Zambezi Warrior. Dominguez up at 33% on turf; horse gave up in the slop after trying hard.
Alabama Man, good try on first out, will improve.
9: MAN O WAR
At just about any odds, a bet on both Red Rocks and Better Talk Now would be better than Curlin's ML of 3/5. If you bet both RR and BTN at 5/1, you essentially have a 5/2 bet, and together these grass hosses probably have as much a chance as the dirt Champ. Wrap these three up in a trifecta box.
10: 4-1 minimum. Sweet Enuf, Marscaponi, Grantor, Nicole Timere, Hoist the Gala.
