$17 longshot bets
1 win, $55 payback.
1: No horse should be bet under 5/1.
*Rail's a tough place to be for Mullens' low-speed Iza General.
*Flip the Penny has won 4 in a row.
*Lead Stealer, well named, would need a pace blow-out.
*Blaze It won and was claimed by a poor trainer.
*Switzerland ran big last.
Likely scenario: Blaze It gets the lone lede, is caught in the stretch by Lead Stealer, and those two finish with no daylight between 'em.
Trainer double-odds longshot: Victory Style, 8/1
2: Hot Chalk: Raise the Heat. Hollendorfer takes over, and this horse is a turf gem.
Nope.
3: Exacta: Runforthemoneybaby and Cantina's Rose. But they're two year olds, so don't bet the whole bankroll or anything.
Run won, Cantina didn't show up.
4: Hot Chalk: Imagine to win and on top of straight exacta with Memorette, both coming off mediocre races against far superior horses.
Trainer longshot: Easy Obsession 12/1.
Rockella 7/1
Imagine won, Memorette faded.
5: Hot Chalk: Something About Laura. It is quite possible that she will wire this 8.5 furlong race. Bai and Bai, Fun Logic and Film Editor all have a shot at her late, but not much of a shot.
Trainer longshot: Film Editor 7/1.
Laura stunk.
6: Hot Chalk: Dancing Edie did it last time at this surface and distance against better.
Trainer longshots: Gentle Charmer, 15/1.
Checklee's Hope 15/1
Excessive Obsession 10/1
Double Major 12/1
Edie finished up the track as Gentle Chamer won at 54-1.
7: 14 two-year-olds, man, that's a scary thought. This looks like one of those races where you should drop 5 bombs into the dime super for a $12 ticket. My Redeemer won big at Fairplex and the outside post is going to be an advantage here. Sierra Sunset for 2nd.
Trainers: California Blaze 12/1.
Bert's Law 12/1
Flight Leader 12/1
$1 exacta paid $30.70
8: Wind Water (4/1) with Garrett up, swoops in after the speedballs have winded each other.
Dakota Padre 15/1.
Excess Temptations 15/1
Finished 3rd.
9: Now Victory vs. Epic Power, whichever give the better odds.
Trainer: Now Victory 7/1.
Zoning In 12/1.
Anziyan's Song 10/1.
Dad's A Little Unusual 20/1
Gadding About 10/1
Now Victory failed.
10: Lava Man is really 3/1 and will be severely overbet. I don't know if I want to bet against this great gentleman, so howzabout a trifecta with him, Bold Chieftan and Celtic Dreamin.
Trainers: Tiz Afire 12/1
Valiant Effort 12/1
A Gallant Discoverer 15/1
Those two finished one-two, with Lava Man 6th.
11: Frankel trains Skimmetry 6/1. The right distance and breeding and the right trainer for this kind of dirt-to-turf move.
Trainers: Sacred Mountain 12/1
Free and Cool 12/1
Showed at 4-1.
