HOLLYWOOD NOVEMBER 10

.......................................................................................................

Weather forecast: A chalky day in So-Cal.

1: Hot chalk: Conclave. Trifecta wheel with Somthintomakimrun, Thunder One underneath.
Thunder One just barely lost to Conclave last time, but that doesn't mean they're equals.
A) Thunder One has tired badly in the stretch and finished out 4 of the last 5 races.
B) Conclave has hit the board in 5 of the last five, including 2 wins.
C) Conclave's trainer has the edge, especially jumping a class after a win.
D) Conclave has raced succesfully at HOL, Thunder One has not.

Conclave paid $3.40 and we missed the tri by half a length.

2: Hot Chalk: Coronas at Delmar meets a weaker class than he's been facing.

Placed at 1/1

3: Push Send (2-1 minimum) and Sir Lowry (3-1 minimum). Place bets on those two will also work. Monterey Jazz is in good form but what is with Fernando Jara lately? In the last 190 turf races, he's got the stats of an exercise rider: 4%.

Jara scores anyway at 4/1. All our bets fail.

4: Distorted Passion is the probable favorite, and looks beatable. If Twelve Twenty Two is neglected at the windows, (2/1 or more) then we go there. An exacta box of these two is a good bet. For longshot players, firster Harmony Creator is a 4-1 shot listed at 8-1 in the ML.

Distorted Passion wins.

5: Silver Stetson Man, Ever a Friend, Soul City Slew will box up for a cheap trifecta win.
Soul City Slew has stepped up in class to trainer Mike Mitchell, but needs minimum 4-1 for a win bet.

Bushwacker beat 'em all at 11/1.

6: Signature Move, the hot first-timer, should be 5-1 not 5-2 as in ML.
Zetterberg has never run a bad call and it is time for him to cash in.

Zetterberg scratched. But we were right about Signature Move, who showed at 3/2.

7: Smart bettors will choose Hollendorfer's Dr. Einstein as the hot chalk. I hope ML fave Desert Sea is bet down, as he really only deserves to be 2nd choice. He has not run a competitive call in the last two races.

Desert Sea won at 3/2, Einstein absolutely threw in a clunker.

8: Giant's Causeway clone Model failed against a hot turf pace last time. Should be in the exotic mix today but I wouldn't bet to win. Except for Le Circue, any horse in this puzzler could win. You could reasonably play whoever the tote neglects. But we'll pass or drop a cheap tote-influenced bet.

Favorite Hucking Hot won, with Gomez up, at 5/2

9: Cavanaugh figures, but this is a maiden two year old race, so why bother figuring. Minimum odds on that guy: 3/1. They've put Gomez on a poorly bred firster named Dirty Dish Mitch, and given him his first Lasix, and that may be worth it at oh, 6-1.
Cavanaugh failed at 2/1, DIrty Dish Mitch ran a good one and paid $9.60 to place.
