CANTERBURY, MEMORIAL DAY

Today we just weren't connecting at CBY. We identified the bad favorites, but never could fix on the winners.
Win bets: $14.00, payback $10.60
Trifecta: $6.00 in, no hits.
Exacta: $2.00 in, $3.70 back
Overall $22 bet, $14.30 back.

1-- Evansville. Not with a lot of conviction, tho. Fiddy Cents is 1/17 and new to CBY. Twoshotsaslew is 1/11 at CBY and has a questionable jockey. The others are off form.
Evansville bobbled and dorked around and quit.

2-- Sheet Metal and G Force in some kinda exacta, but again, I wouldn't bet the bank. Sheet Metal will offer the best odds, since muddy races have obscured his talents twice now.
G Force paid $7.20 to win, Sheet Metal dragged in last.

3-- 8 of 9 in here haven't raced before, so we're looking high odds. I'd say Ziggy on top of Wilson Brown's young colt I'm Feeling Lucky would be a good longshot. Brown is one of four trainers in here who know what they're doing with maidens, so 12-1 is more than fair.
Placed at 6-1 and paid $6.20.

4-- Iron Boy, a new claim by Jamie Ness, ridden by his favorite jockey. This horse was a terror at Tampa this winter, gave up in his last race at Prairie Meadows, which may throw off some bettors.
Won by 3 lengths, but the bridge jumpers drove him down to a $3.40 payout.

5-- Jet Cape, I'll See You Soon, Ghazi's Big Easy. All are about equal and if you can't get 4-1 on 'em, box up a trifecta.
Ghazi won and paid $6.00, trifecta went bust.

6-- Tens Holy Spirit. 2/2 at the park, 3/6 on the turf. A bullet work. Paul Nolan in the irons on a grass race. Frontier Fanny and Salty Attraction would fit into a tri box.
Two out of three hit the tri, but that wasn't enough.

7-- Smoke Smoke Smoke in the main event, a quickie over the turf. He will be an underdog. I'm taking him to place behind Lookingforthesecret, and boxing up those two. The favorite will be bet way down...
Exacta paid a whopping $3.70

8-- Longshot Picksixday. Improving horse takes a drastic drop and gets 10/1 ML.
Crowd wised up and sent him off as the favorite. He placed and paid $4.20.
