BELMONT OCT. 21

These picks come with our usual no-money-back guarantee....

RACE 5: Sharp Humor (#3) is the best horse, winning 3 of 6 stakes-or-better races, including the Swale. He has been working steadily to come back from a layoff. If the crowd loves him too much, look to Gold and Roses (#2), coming off a shorter layoff, with 3 for 11 in stakes-or-better races. The form horse is Papua, the only other stakes winner in here. The talk lately though is that Desormeaux is riding badly these days.

We played the tri, paid $32.20.

RACE 6: Finlandia (#5) is the obvious horse in this turf handicap. Rahy's Appeal (1a) won it last year and is rounding into form. Kate Winslet (#7) has hit the board in G2 races twice and has been off since April. Sabellina (#10) is a late charger, and has beaten Rahy and Finlandia. Let the tote be your guide.
Finlandia paid $8.60. We played Rahy's Appeal.

RACE 7: Her Royal Nibs (#10). Unfortunately, she is the darling of the ML. Let's hope the crowd fixates on Zippy Shannon (#11) who is the figure horse.
No reason paid $8.60. We passed.

RACE 8: Certifiably Crazy (#2) Do you want to bet a turf horse who leads the pack? Maybe in this case. It all and always depends on the tote. ML of 5/2.
At 3/2 we passed Crazy, who won and paid $5.10. Crazy really was the best horse. We should have passed, but we bet Retribution.

RACE 9: West Virginia (#7) The only graded stakes winner, and in great form. The ML gives Funny Cide (9) the second spot, and that would be nice, but I'm not betting on him. Naughty New Yorker, with Prado aboard, is my pick if the crowd goes lunatic on West Virginia. He beat West Virginia last race, after all.
Longshot Organizer won and paid $48.00. This horse was a natural 7-1 shot that went off at 23-1, simply because of low Beyer figures. He had as many classy wins as any horse in the race.

RACE 10: Rewrite (#1). ML: 3/1. Goofy turf race out of the shoot. If they bet 'er down, Artistic Express (#10) has class and form. (ML 9/2)
Lattitude 40 paid $14.40. Rewrite had the mojo, but got trapped on the rail and the jock had to check him. That's racing!

........................................................

Overall for Belmont: $30 bet, $32.20 back.
