Score $15.30 for $20.00
1: Oldschoolhouse Road with Al's Lark over Gone Prospecting in the trifecta.
$2 wasted.
2: Throbbin' Heart. Super first race and figures to improve for easy win.
Pass at 3/5 and won.
3: Angelic Aura (off two huge wins, positive trainer switch) to beat odds-on favorite Indian War Dance, who set a slow pace and tired at Hoffa Memorial. Angelic's claimer was as tough as Indian's handicap.
Righto! $9.10
4: The Leopard. Pletcher knows how to prep a horse for its first grassy route. He's bred for this, and it's the kind of race he's been pointing to... odds will suck. And if they sink below the Mendoza line, Grasberg, with Desormeaux, won his last and would be worth 4 or 5 to 1.
Grasberg a weak show.
5: All Expenses Paid. Up from Florida and able to set a very fast pace, doubt that Web Gem can keep up early.
The crowd was right about Etched, a firster.
6: Get Serious. Never been in a dirt race at this low of a level. However, given how this race plays to speed, might have to box with I'm a Numbers Guy.
Half right and out $4.
7: Factual Contender. Will try to wire this turf route and just might do it against these.
Trailed early, but won anyway. $6.20.
8: Royal Highness. Douglas is a fine turf rider, and Royal ran down a fair pace last time. Royal is a closer, and there are SIX speed horses in here.
Everybody lost to the Brit at 20/1.
9: After Market. 8/12 on the turf., 2/2 Belmont. Four graded wins in a row. Trippi's Storm should hit the board, so should Icy Atlantic and Stirke a Deal. Sounds like a superfecta to me.
$2 wasted.
10: Turf sprint. Beneath the Crown is good with Desormeaux up, but lack of early speed hurts. ... In the Spotlight is in form.... but pick Elusive Fox, who has has the early speed on grass.
Not good enough.
