Which is also Mozart's birthday.
Here we go:
Gulfstream 1: Cataria [1] has the consistency to win this cheap claimer.
Race 2: Who cares?
Race 3: Dream on, Dream on [1] has Beyers, speed, class, a jockey who has won with him, a 20% trainer and strong workouts. What else do you need?
Race 4: Shake it off [3] if you're realy desperate for a bet.
Race 5: Silver Charades (4) Gomez atop a consistent turf horse.
Race 7: Texas Voyager (14). Blazing early speed, but a risk: far outside post, only his second race, and new to GP. Demand a price.
Race 8: Four speedsters in here. Hot Storm [13] has the speed and class to overcome a nasty post. I will also hook him up in a straight exacta with Swap Fliparoo [9]
Race 9: Bayou's Lassie. Elvis can ride this girl, and together they have put together five monster races in a row. In a field this crowded, early speed helps even in turf races, and Lassie has it.
Race 10: Texcess [9] should hold off the late-charging classy Rehoboth. [6]. But if the closers have been winning all day, I'd reverse that, and put Rehoboth up on top. However, note that Rehoboth's wins have all come against easy competition, when Rehoboth has been the chalk. Against better, he simply can't find the wire.
THE REST OF THE MAGNA FIVE:
Santa Anita 4: Bordonaro [7]. Good luck getting even money. Nighttime Affair [6] and Proud Tower Too [8] are worth a bet if say, Bordonaro were to get a bad break.
Santa Anita 5: Lava Man, obviously. But he'll be a bad bet. Has he won from a post this bad? Nope. Has he beat a field this big, nope. Makes a nice single in the pick-5 or other exotics, but that's about it.
Laurel 9: They still racing at LRL? I guess they are. How about that? Then I pick Yolanda B. Too. Class, early speed, Beyers and Jeremy Rose, who's given her some good rides. No other horses in here have faced competition like Yolanda has.
